Valley Christian School - Finished Artwork

We are very excited to begin posting pictures of finished artwork!  We will be posting one school at a time.  Take your time to preview online, and come to downtown Missoula for First Friday on May 2nd and see the artwork in front of the Merc!

Mirror, Mirror on the Wall
Mixed Media Recycled Material

I was inspired by an image I saw on Pinterest of a very modern oval mirror with flowers, but I wanted to add more of a vintage look to mine.  It was fun for me to take something as ugly and simple as an egg carton and transform it into something beautiful becoming unrecognizable.

At Home in Montana
Etched Glass

I wanted to do something involving Montana, so when I was offered this plate, I automatically knew what I was going to do with it.  It was super fun cutting out the barbed wire.  I love etching and am excited to decorate some of our glass vases at home.

Owl on a Branch
Acrylic on Glass
30" x 20"

We had a lot of fun working on this piece!  The recycled window frame gives a rustic/vintage feel.  We both love owls, so doing a silhouette of one was natural.  To have this in the Windows of Youth show is an honor, and we are glad to donate to the cause.

Montana Rockies
Etched Glass Olive Oil Bottle

I wanted to portray Montana Mountains on something people can use in their house.  That is why it is on an olive oil bottle, where it can be refilled and used again.

Tree of Life
Acrylic on Glass
8.5 x 11 inches

Making the piece was a process.  I was inspired by looking at tree branches and how detailed they were, even without their leaves.  When the leaves fall off, sunsets or sunrises bring out the beauty of the tree branches.

Woodland Owl
Acrylic on Glass

I was presented with a wooden frame but I wasn’t sure what to paint on the glass.  I began thinking about the character of the frame, its wooden color, and rough texture, and it reminded me of a woodland bird, the owl.  I chose to paint the owl because it matched the character of the frame, but in the end, they complimented each other seamlessly.

Transformation
Etched Glass

At the beginning of this project I was inspired by the idea of etching a vase, but had no other clear thoughts about what my project would look like.  When I found the square vase, however, the geometric pattern seemed to present itself.  I enjoyed creating this piece and having a purpose for the finished product made it even more meaningful.

A Taste of Summer
Etched Water Glasses

I chose glasses because I wanted an object that people would use every day.

Faith, Hope, and Love
Acrylic on Glass

I love the verse and wanted something simple.  Three very important things to humanity are Faith, Hope, and Love, but the greatest is Love.

Seeds
Etched Acrylic Paint on Glass

This piece of the dandelion reminds me a lot of springtime which is what inspired me to paint it.  The dandelions feel so free and fresh.

The Bottle
Etched Glass Jug

My inspiration was the beauty of an old fashioned jug.  I was excited to do this project!  I love the old vintage pieces.  I am so glad I had this opportunity

Serene Reflections
Etched Glass

I love to sit and watch fish in a pond or tank, especially goldfish, with their striking colors and flowing fins.  For me, it provides stress relief and a powerful sense of serenity, much like the feeling I experience while doing art.  Doing this project was very enjoyable for me, as I was able to depict something very calming for the good of those in need.

Garden Party
Glass Paint

My inspiration came from my love of flowers.  Painting on glass sounded like an intriguing project and it was very neat how I could do something I enjoy for a good cause like Youth Homes.  This was a great experience knowing that I can serve God and my community while doing something I love.
